Mission

The implementation of the Open Data Repository of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is carried out in accordance with the "Concept for the implementation of European principles of open science in the NAS of Ukraine for 2024-2030", which was approved by the resolution of the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine
dated 11/29/2023 No. 400. The concept defines the policy of the NAS of Ukraine on the implementation of open science: the goal, principles, priority tasks and main directions of activity of the NAS of Ukraine.
The concept was developed taking into account the "National Plan for Open Science", approved by the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 08.10.2022 No. 892-r, and is aimed at the implementation of the Resolution of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine dated 02.11.2022 No. 327 "Regarding the participation of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the implementation of European principles of open science ".

The main goal of implementing the concept of open science at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is:
• improving the visibility of research results of scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the information environment of open science with the use of modern technical and informational means and with further evaluation of effectiveness using scientometric indicators, which will contribute to the development of science in Ukraine and international scientific cooperation;
• expanding the access of the scientific community, organizations and enterprises both in Ukraine and at the international level to the scientific results of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The goals of implementing open science at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine are:
• supporting the use of research results, their dissemination using modern mechanisms of open science, increasing awareness of the scientific environment of foreign countries with scientific publications and research data of scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
• increasing the credibility, reliability and reproducibility of scientific results in accordance with the principles of FAIR;
• facilitating the dissemination and application of research results.

The results of the tasks of the Concept will be:
• expanding the presentation of research results of scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the information environment in the interests of the development of science in Ukraine, international scientific cooperation, and the use of research results;
• open access to scientific publications and research data confirming research results;
• compliance of journals of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine with European and world standards and their presence in international scientific repositories and search engines;
• implementation of data management plans during the entire life cycle of research and after the completion of the relevant scientific project; established mechanisms for saving and opening data in reliable data repositories in accordance with the principles of FAIR within the framework of virtual organizations of the National Academy of Sciences and centers for collective use of equipment of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
• effective functioning of cloud and computing resources of the National Academy of Sciences and centers for collective use of equipment of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
• taking into account the principles of open science during the evaluation of the scientific activity of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
• creation of the Universal publishing platform of journals of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine with the transformation of scientific periodicals into open access journals;
• creation of the Open Data Repository of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
• creation of the Archive of preprints of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
• creation of the Platform for Scientific Activities of Scientific Workers of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
• creation of the Open Science Harvester of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which will improve the visibility of the Academy's scientific output in the European and global research space.

Collectively, these results will contribute to increasing the importance of Ukrainian science, the participation of Ukrainian scientists in international cooperation, and the implementation of scientific results of the institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
